Why should I invest in wedding photography?
Put simply, your photographs are truly the only things left over from your wedding day that will help preserve your memories. Weddings are gorgeous, timeless, emotional events and you are not going to remember everything. The tiniest details that you have worked tirelessly over for months may be forgotten. Moments that happen in the blink of an eye would be fleeting at best. Wedding photographers are masters at capturing the beauty that surrounds you in a way that helps you think even more fondly of one of the best days of your life. Most photographers truly genuinely care about their couples and want to do what they can to immortalize this important day.
Why are some photographers more expensive than others?
The wedding industry is a fickle beast. There are those out there who aren’t getting paid enough for what they do and those who are getting paid way too much for too little. The challenge is to find an artist whose pricing is fair for both parties. Wedding photography is more than just the work done on the wedding day; there are hours upon hours of editing done afterwards, and hours of correspondence and collaboration done beforehand. Because we are artists first and service providers second, the pricing you see reflects years of studying and honing our craft to bring you the best possible experience. This means that pricing between photographers can vary wildly, and packages offered can include different things. When shopping, be sure to compare apples to apples; a photographer with two years of experience, for example, may seem more cost-effective than someone with ten years of experience, but they may miss key moments in your wedding day that a more seasoned pro would not.
Let’s Talk About Pricing.Besides the obvious (your gown, your venue, and your officiant) wedding photography is the next most important detail to nail down–and fast. Most photographers book a year or two in advance, and popular dates can fill quickly. Click the button to the right to explore the available packages.
What Past Couples Have To SayThey say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I think words are every bit as important as the picture! My past couples have a lot to say about their experiences with me. See for yourself!
What does “Cinematic” mean in terms of your style?
“Cinematic” means a couple of different things from your typical wedding photography style. For one, I tend to edit with a cool color base, which echos what we’re seeing in fine art films. My style tends to have more color than most styles found nowadays. Also, it’s worth noting that the framing choices I make are reminiscent of film, where the frame is horizontal. Although I do photograph in both horizontal and vertical frames, I find that making it “look like a movie” gives the photos more flavor and life.
It’s super simple and usually starts with a candid conversation. I love hearing your love stories, and that first conversation is mostly just chatting about your wants and needs for your wedding. If you decide to book, we sign a contract and secure your retainer (which is 25% of your total package). We’ll also schedule your engagement session.
Engagement sessions happen anywhere from 6-12 months (on average) before your wedding and are an hour long. You’ll get back 30-40 images via an online gallery; the images are there for you (and anyone else you want) to download and print or share. I don’t hold your photos hostage; while I would love for you to use photo labs that I’ve worked with in the past (they make my images look AMAZING) you’re welcome to print where you wish.
From there we get a little quiet unless you have questions about your wedding day. I’m always available to talk about anything you need to nail down. The week of your wedding we’ll finalize your timeline and any other little details. Wedding day photos are done the same as your engagement photos; depending on the package you select, you can expect anywhere from 300-700 images to be delivered via online gallery about 6-8 weeks after your wedding. I love staying in touch with my couples and hope that you will stay in touch long after the wedding day is over!
